Coronavirus: Kenya records 164 new pandemic cases

Nairobi, Kenya, August 30 (Infosplusgabon) - The registration of 164 new pandemic cases on Saturday saw Kenya's caseload reach 33,794.

The new cases were captured out of 3,009 samples tested within the past 24 hours.

The Health ministry said 445,722 samples have been tested since the first coronavirus case was reported in Kenya on 13 March.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, unveiled the figures at the daily pandemic media update.

The country’s recovery figure now stands at 19,590 after 156 more people were cleared including 113 who were undergoing home-based care.

Kenya's recovery rate is pegged at 57.9% against the global rate of 69.4%.

Five more patients succumbed to coronavirus, raising the death toll to 572.
