Nairobi, Kenya, August 30 (Infosplusgabon) - Kenya is set to receive an $739 million loan from the Japanese government to support universal health coverage.

The funding is the second phase of a project that was started in 2015 with an initial $369.9 million loan.

This was unveiled by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani and Japanese Ambassador to Kenya Horie Ryoichi at a deal signing ceremony.

This latest funding is also meant to help Kenya fight against coronavirus.

The latest support adds to efforts by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, in which it has provided water treatment chemicals to nine water service providers around the country to help mitigate the impact of coronavirus.
