Coronavirus: Kenya records 263 new infections, caseload reach 34,057

Nairobi, Kenya, August 30 (Infosplusgabon) - Kenyan health authorities Sunday recorded 263 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections as the national tally rose to 34,057.

 

 

 

The new positive cases were captured from 4,424 tested samples within 24 hours, the health officials said.

 

At a daily status update, the Health ministry said 450,146 cases had been analysed since the disease hit the country in March.

 

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the death of two more patients who succumbed to the disease, raising the death toll to 574.

 

The new positive cases were diagnosed among 83 females and 180 males.

 

The youngest patient was a year-old baby while the oldest was aged 83.

 

Nairobi accounted for the highest number of 81 cases.

 

The country’s recovery toll rose to 19,688 after 98 more people were cleared, including 79 who are undergoing home-based care.

 

Also on the brighter side, Kenya's fatality rate stood at 1.69 against the global rate of 3.36 per cent.
