Conakry, Guinea, August 30 (Infosplusgabon) - Guinea Saturday recorded 58 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections following tests carried out on a sample of 486 people, indicating a positivity index of 11.9 per cent, official sources said.
In its daily bulletin, the National Health Security Agency (ANSS) said that since the discovery of the first case on March 12, it had recorded 9,309 confirmed cases, including 8,333 recoveries and 59 deaths.
In deciding recently to extend the state of health emergency until mid-September, the Head of State, Alpha Conde, denounced the indifference and negligence of his compatriots to the wearing of masks.
He thus announced that the fine for not respecting the use of the mask or the bib had now increased from 30,000 to 50,000 Guinean francs (about 3,000 F CFA).
Police officers stepped up controls on the capital's main streets, where they arrested several bar and dance club owners and their customers on a daily basis.
