Coronavirus: Tunisia records 131 new confirmed cases

Tunis, Tunisia, August 23 (Infosplusgabon) - Tunisia has registered 131 new confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) following laboratory tests carried out on 2007 persons, the Tunisian Ministry of Health announced on Saturday, adding that the new cases consist of 124 local and seven imported cases.

 

Since the opening of the country's air and sea borders on 27 June, Tunisia has recorded 1,535 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including 475 imported, 1,060 local and 18 deaths, the ministry indicated.

 

The Director of the Pasteur Institute of Tunis, Hichem Ouazir, has also announced that vaccine for the treatment of coronavirus will be available at the beginning of 2021.

 

He said if the vaccine is proved to be effective, the populations will be informed accordingly in November or December 2020.
