Bamako, Mali, August 22 (Infosplusgabon) - Protesters have barricaded roads in the Malian capital, Bamako, as well as in Kati following heavy weapon fire heard Tuesday morning in Kati military camp, Mali's largest, according to official sources.

Reports say some angry soldiers have ransacked the arms depots to show their displeasure with the military hierarchy as shooting is continuing at the moment.

In Bamako, the recently-appointed Minister of Economy and Finance, Abdoulaye Daffé, was reportedly arrested along with several generals of the Malian army by the anti-terrorist forces (FORSAT).

The Prime Minister's Office and many other ministries and state and private services have instructed their agents to return home.

The situation remains very tense and uncertain in the Malian capital.

This situation comes at a time when the 5 June Movement - Rally of Patriotic Forces (MP5-RFP) had decided to undertake, from this Tuesday and the following days, awareness caravans for young people in the city of Bamako, marches, sit-ins and other activities, to still demand the resignation of the Malian president, Ibrahim Boubacar Kéita and his regime, accused of "bad governance" and "mismanagement" of the crisis that Mali has been experiencing for years.
