WHO Chief pays tribute to former director of research Professor Peter Byass

Accra, Ghana, August 19  (Infosplusgabon) -  Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization(WHO), Tuesday paid tribute to Professor Peter Byass, former director of the Centre for Global Health Research who passed away suddenly Sunday.

Prof Byass of Umea University in Sweden, and Chief Editor of Global Health Action, was described by Dr. Tedros as “a committed and talented servant of global health who helped many people shine around the world”, a “dear friend and mentor”.

“I have worked with him, learned from him and laughed with him. He’ll be much missed.

“My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time,” he stated

The tribute preceded Dr Tedros’ opening remarks at a media briefing on the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic situation received by Infosplusgabon.
