Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, August 16 (Infosplusgabon) - The threat of attacks and kidnappings targeting Westerners remains high in the Sahelian zone and in neighbouring countries, The French government said in a statement alerting its nationals of the dangers ahead.
"No area can now be considered completely safe," said the statement obtained on Sunday.
According to the statement, it is therefore not safe to visit the red zones in Mali, Niger, Mauritania, and also all the red zones in bordering countries.
"French nationals who may be in these zones should be aware that their safety and lives are explicitly and directly threatened. Especially for tourists, no person, group or organization can claim to guarantee their safety.
In view of the regional impact of the security situation in Mali, the French are particularly requested to be guided by the warnings in the Travel Report for each of the countries of the Sahelian region, including the neighbouring and border countries, it said.
