Kigali, Rwanda, August 5 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwanda has registered seven new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 2,099, the country's COVID-19 response team said in a statement Wednesday.

It said that recoveries have increased to 1,222 compared to 872 active cases  since the disease was first diagnosed in Rwanda on 14 March.

The government is presently focusing on ramping up the number of tests.

Rwanda's borders are closed while movements across the country are prohibited from 9 pm to 5 am in line with a curfew imposed to limit the spread of the disease.

Since 1 August, the government has reopened airports for commercial flights.
