Coronavirus: Ghana records 574 new cases to total 39,075

Accra, Ghana, August 5 (Infoplusgabon) - Ghana has recorded 574 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) pushing the case count to 39,075, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) reported on its website on Wednesday.

It said the cases were reported in the lab on 2 August. Ghana has carried out just under 400,000 tests so far since March in its policy to test, trace an treat thus accounting for the high numbers.

Eight new deaths have also been recorded in Ghana, increasing the death toll to 199.

A total of 35,563 clinical recoveries have also been recorded while the active case count stands at 3,313, figures that are touted by the government's COVID-19 team as reflecting the success of its containment programme.

GHS said seven patients are in critical condition, five are on ventilators, and 23 are in severe condition.
