Kigali, Rwanda, July 20 (Infosplusgabon) -  A few weeks ahead of the resumption of international flights and the reopening of Kigali International airport, the Rwandan Minister of Health, Dr Daniel Ngamije, on Monday said that all Rwandan nationals who wish to travel abroad will have to pay 50,000 Frw (US$ 52) while foreigners will pay US$ 100 to obtain  COVID-19 Test Certificate.

Rwanda as well as some other countries have imposed strict quarantine regulations for anyone entering and typically requiring a 14-day isolation period.

However, for some destinations, the quarantine requirement is waived if the passenger is holding a valid COVID-19 Certificate of Testing which shows there is no infection.

Under the new health measures, all travelers, both Rwandans and foreigners, who travel to Rwanda will be transferred from airports to waiting centers for COVID-19 lab tests and they are required to wait for the test results at those centers and placed in a mandatory 7-day quarantine at designated hotels at their own expenses, according to official sources.

Prior to this, Rwanda was footing quarantine costs for new arrivals. The government has negotiated special rates with some hotels and apartments to host those arriving into the country.

Every traveler arriving in Rwanda on a flight that departs from another country must proceed to the isolation center for a minimum of seven days, where they will be required to foot the costs of accommodation, meals and other services, it said.

In Kigali, institutional quarantine sites range between US$12 and US$60, reports said.
