Coronavirus: Kenya pandemic deaths reach 238 as new infection caseload climbs to 13,771

Nairobi, Kenya, July 20 (Infosplusgabon) - The death of four people due to coronavirus-related complications on Monday brought the number pandemic deaths in Kenya to 238.

Total coronavirus cases reported since March 12 stood at 13,771.

The new death toll represents a national case fatality rate of 1.7 per cent.

During the regular briefing on the status of the pandemic, Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Rashid Aman, also noted that 494 coronavirus cases have been cleared in 24 hours, raising recoveries registered since April 1 to 5,616.

The new cleared cases include 465 patients who were recovering under home-based care.

A year-old child is among the new 418 cases which were reported within the last 24 hours after 2,574 samples were analyzed.

Nairobi County, also the Kenyan capital, remained the hotsport, followed by Mombasa County.

Mombasa City, in Mombasa County, is also the country's second largest city.
