Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, July 13 (Infosplusgabon) - The President of the High Council of Communication of Burkina Faso, Mathias Takoano, on Sunday escaped unhurt after an improvised explosive device was hauled at his convoy on the Diapaga-Kantchari axis, eastern Burkina Faso, Infosplusgabon learned on Monday from official sources.
"Mr. Takoano's convoy has been ambushed," a security source close to the Higher Communication Council said, adding that the security team quickly repelled the attackers.
The president and his delegation escaped unharmed, but some of his security details were injured and the vehicles damaged, the source said.
Eastern Burkina Faso has been targetted by terrorists who have set up bases in the forests of the region, experts say.
