Lomé, Togo, June 27 (Infosplusgabon) – The national coordination of response to the Covid-19 management has told the press that five schoolboys were infected by coronavirus.

According to Doctor-Colonel Mohaman Djibril, the coordinator of the response committee to the pandemic, those schoolboys tested positive long before the resumption of classes on 15 June.

He said that four of the schoolboys are part of the group of returning travelers who tested positive, including two in Mango and two in Cinkassé, two cities in the far north of the country on the border with Burkina Faso.

The fifth case, detected in Lomé, contracted the virus from his infected parents.

The latest information caused panic within schools as parents expressed fear that contaminations will be rife in schools.

In Togo, classes resumed on 15 June only for those in examinations classes who are expected to strictly observe the preventive measures, particularly the wearing of masks and physical distancing in classes.

As of 24 June, Togo has recorded 583 confirmed cases, 177 active cases (under treatment), 392 recovered patients and 14 deaths.
