Libya welcomes Somali’s support for government of national accord

Tripoli, Libya, June 26 (Infosplusgabon) - The Libyan minister of foreign affairs, Mohamed Taher Siala, Thursday thanked the Somali government and people for their “position of support to the government of national accord(GNA) during the emergency meeting of the League of Arab States" held Tuesday.

 

The minister expressed his appreciation during talks on the phone with his Somali counterpart, Ahmed Issa Awad, on the latest developments of the situation in the two countries, a statement issued by the Libyan ministry of foreign affairs and obtained by PANA here said.

 

It added that the two parties agreed on the need for coordination between the two countries and its continuation under “any form in the full interest of the two fellow peoples” and in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

 

Somalia, Qatar, Tunisia and Libya formulated reserves on the final communiqué released by the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level concerning the evolution of the situation in Libya.

 

The League adopted a resolution of 14 points, underlining the approval of “Libya’s unity and sovereignty, the territorial integrity, stability and well-being of its people and democratic future” and rejecting all foreign interference in the Libyan crisis.
