Brazzaville, Congo, June 26 (Infosplusgabon) - Two men of Congolese nationality were arrested Tuesday in Oyo, 400 km from here, for illegal movement and trade in two dashes of ivory weighing 20 kilograms, state-run radio reported here Thursday.

The alleged traffickers were a soldier of the Congolese armed forces (FAC) belonging to the Republican Guard here and a fisherman.

Those ivories were allegedly bought by the soldier for an individual living in a village near the protected areas.

The two will appear before the tribunal of first instance of the city.

In Congo, the elephant is classified among the protected species.
