Coronavirus: One new positive case recorded in Mauritius

Port-Louis, Mauritius, June 25 (Infosplusgabon) – The health authorities in Mauritius on Wednesday recorded one new positive case of Covid-19 on a Mauritian citizen who was repatriated from India last Monday, Infosplusgabon  learnt from official sources in the Mauritian capital.

 

The patient had been quarantined since his arrival and has now been transferred to a hospital where he is receiving appropriate treatment.

 

This new case of Covid-19 brings the number of positive cases of Covid-19 to five in the island.

 

Since the outbreak of this disease in March 2020, a total of 341 cases of contamination have been identified in Mauritius, including 10 deaths, while 326 of them have been cured. About 550 passengers are currently in quarantine centres across the island.

 

Health sources said that 171,792 Covid-19 tests have been carried out so far, namely 135,553 rapid antigen tests and 36,239, PCR tests.

 

Meanwhile, a Mauritian citizen repatriated from Madagascar last Saturday and quarantined in a hotel ran away from there but was caught having dinner with his spouse and two children at a nearby restaurant. They have all been quarantined – the man will have to answer to an offence committed under the Quarantine Act.
