Coronavirus: Nigeria records 436 new cases, total confirmed cases now 20,244

Abuja, Nigeria, June 22 (Infosplusgabon) – Nigeria on Sunday recorded 436 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) bringing the total number of infections to 20,244.

 

 

 

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said via its official Twitter handle that out of the total number of 113,575 samples collected, 20,244 were confirmed cases, 12,847 were active while 6,879 people have been treated and discharged.

 

The NCDC also said that with the 12 deaths recorded on Sunday, the death toll is up at 518.

 

The health agency said that out of the 436 new cases, Lagos State reported the highest number with 169, followed by Oyo with 54 new infections.

 

The NCDC again noted that “Nigeria is now at community transmission, meaning that people getting infected could not identify the source of COVID-19 infection".

 

He asked the general public to protect themselves and loved ones even if they feel fine.
