Tunis, Tunisia, June 22 (Infosplusgabon) - A Tunisian human rights group on Sunday called on the government to evacuate some 146 Tunisian children from Syrian and Libyan camps whose living conditions have further deteriorated due to the coronavirus (Covid-19).

The Executive Director of the Observatory of Rights and Freedoms in Tunisia, Marwen Jedda said more than 110 Tunisian children are currently in Syrian camps and another 36 are in Libyan camps. They are living in tragic conditions and lack the means to protect them from Covid-19 infection.

These children, 80 percent of whom are under the age of 13, are paying, without any fault or sin of theirs, the price for the mistakes of their parents who were fighting in these hotbeds of tension, Jedda said, adding that camp officials are transferring the 13-year-olds to prison.

The return of these children to their country is a legitimate right and a duty at the same time, Jedda said, noting that the younger they are, the easier it is to provide psychological support.
