Bamako, Mali, June 22  (Infosplusgabon) - Four of the eight judges who make up Mali's Constitutional Court resigned on Saturday, reliable sources in the capital, Bamako  said.

The resigning judges are Mamadou Boiré, M'Père Diarra, Fatoumata Diallo and Zoumana Moussa Cissé.

The resignation of these four counsellors to the President of the Constitutional Court comes just days after the death of Counsellor Modibo Tounti Guindo.

Mali's Constitutional Court has been the target of multiple criticisms in recent times, for allegedly tampering with the results of the last parliamentary elections (March-April 2020).

Several political parties claim to have been robbed of victory by the Constitutional Court, who pronounced the ruling party winner after the final results of the second round of parliamentary elections were announced two months ago.

The Court's decision sparked tension and continues to raise many concerns across the country.

During the recent demonstrations, initiated by opponents of the regime of the president, Ibrahim Boubacar keita, protesters who demanded the resignation of the president, were very critical of the Constitutional Court which they slammed as being in the payroll of the ruling party.

With these resignations, Mali's Constitutional Court now has only four members, including the much-criticised president, Manassa Danioko.
