Conakry, Guinea, June 21 (Infosplusgabon) – Guinean president Alpha Condé on Saturday appointed Claude Kory Koundiano, outgoing Speaker of Parliament, as his senior representative, according to a decree read on Guinean national television (RTG).

He has been replaced as Speaker by Amadou Damaro Camara, also from the ruling Rally of the Guinean People (RPG), which won the 22 March parliamentary election held simultaneously with the referendum on the constitution.

The election was boycotted by several opposition parties who challenged the reliability of the voters’ roll and denounced "the parody" of the poll, which their leaders said, was to enable president Condé to run for a new term beyond his second and last five-year term which is due to in October.

Mr Koundiano replaces the former Prime Minister and leader of the Union of Republican forces (UFR), Sidya Touré, who resigned several months ago.
