Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, June 18 (Infosplusgabon) - The coronavirus pandemic, which has affected 899 people and killed 53 since March 9 in Burkina Faso, has caused a significant drop in the state's revenues, the government said on Thursday, presenting an amending finance bill to the National Assembly.

The amended finance law aims to respond to new requirements necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report of the Council of Ministers, which met on Wednesday.

It pointed out that “this results in a significant drop in own revenues, the appearance of new priorities to be met in order to deal with the epidemic and the response to the consequences of Covid-19 on the whole economy."

Revenue from regular and extraordinary resources is expected to be 2,038,850. 136,000 CFA francs against 2,233,316,662,000 CFA francs for the initial finance law, said the document.

Proposed budgetary expenditure is 2.508.081.572.000 CFA francs against 2.518.456.662.000 CFA francs for the initial finance law.

The budget deficit would be 469,231,436,000 CFA francs against 285,140,000,000 CFA francs for the initial finance law, according to the same report.
