Bamako, Mali, June 18 (Infosplusgabon) - Sub-prefects of Dangha and Diré in Timbuktu region, northeast Mali, were abducted by unidentified armed men in the town of Diré on Wednesday, from security sources on Thursday.
They said that unidentified armed men, arrived in a pick-up, broke into the premises of the prefecture, pointing the prefects and their collaborators, before removing the two sub-prefects and took away two motorcycles.
Guards responsible for protection of the prefecture beat a retreat, following shootings by the assailants, who injured three people including a girl who died from her injuries, according to sources, who said that the terrified residents remained holed up in their homes for hours.
Before the arrival of the army detachment, deployed in the afternoon, the attackers had already disappeared in the wild with the two hostages and the motorcycles.
