Tunis, Tunisia, June 15 (Infosplusgabon) - The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) will benefit from a 10% reduction of the old contractual purchase price of Algerian gas after the approval by Algeria of the renewal of the contract between the two parties, the Tunisian ministry of Energy, Mines and Energy Transition, announced in a press release published on its Facebook page.
According to the press release, these new contractual prices for the purchase of Algerian gas are with effect from June 2020. They will reduce the cost of the invoice for the purchase of Algerian gas and also extend the payment period from 15 days to 30 days.
STEG has started negotiations, from April 2018 until June 2020, with the Algerian side, represented by the Algerian oil company, Sonatrach.
Under the agreement resulting from these negotiations, Tunisia's need for Algerian gas was set for the period 2020-2030, while maintaining the contractual quantities currently, estimated at 2 billion and 500 million m3 per year for the 2020-2025 period, and increasing these quantities to 3 billion m3 for the 2026-2029 period.
