Cotonou, Benin, June 15 (Infosplusgabon) - Benin currently has 483 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health, released on Monday.

"… Benin registered two other cases on June 14, 2020, which brings to 483 the number of confirmed cases with Covid-19 infection, with 242 people on treatment, 232 people cured and 9 deaths," the ministry said in a press release published on the government website dedicated to the pandemic.

The country carried out 16,421 screenings with the PCR "polymerase chain reaction" and 29,726 screenings with the rapid diagnostic test (TDR).

Benin recorded its first case of infection on March 16.

In this country, which has opted for systematic screening of travelers upon arrival at the airport, people screened positive for the rapid diagnostic test are taken care of and followed according to suitable protocols.

The Beninese government constantly calls, through several channels, on the people to respect health measures, in particular preventive measures (washing of hands with soap and water, wearing a mask everywhere, respecting distance safety measures of at least one meter, ...) to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
