Nouakchott, Mauritania, June 15 (Infosplusgabon) - Mauritanian Foreign Affairs and Cooperation minister Ismaël Cheikh Ahmed has welcomed the aid received on Sunday from the kingdom of Morocco for combating the coronavirus pandemic.

The assistance, which also extends to 15 African countries, presents good prospects for strengthening cooperation, said a press statement issued by the minister.

The aid comprises medical equipment, masks and medicines.

Mr. Ahmed said he appreciated "the precious support of a country in the face of a rapidly expanding pandemic, which will help medical personnel to face their mission, in the interest of the sick and the population".

He also expressed Nouakchott's desire "to take full advantage of the Moroccan experience, which has made it possible to control the pandemic practically today, despite the force of initial spread of infections."

Ahmed recalled “the strengthening of relations between Nouakchott and Rabat, since the arrival of President Mohamed Cheikh Ghazouani on August 1, 2019, and announced prospects for strengthening cooperation in many areas including health, education and trade."
