Cotonou, Benin, June 14 (Infosplusgabon) - The Beninese government will soon turn its coastal strip green through a campaign of coconut tree planting, according to a decision by the last Council of Ministers session.
The coconut planting campaign is part of a resilient coastal strip development plan, designed to enhance and protect the entire Beninese coast in two phases. The first phase covers 42 km and an area of 420 hectares. The second phase will take into account the planting of coconut palms over 83 km in an area of 2,490 hectares.
Municipalities along the coastal strip and the communities concerned will be involved in the reforestation operation.
