Coronavirus: Benin records 24 new cases of COVID-19, sixth deaths

Cotonou, Benin, June 14 (Infosplusgabon)- Benin has registered 24 new cases of COVID-19  bringing the total number of infections to 412, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

 

 

 

"Benin has registered as of June 11, 2020, a total of 412 confirmed cases with 184 people under treatment, 222 people cured and 6 deaths related to COVID-19," said the statement released on Saturday by the ministry.

 

Benin had its first case of infection on 16 March.

 

The country opted for systematic screening of travellers upon arrival at the airport, people who test positive to the rapid diagnostic test are treated and followed according to appropriate protocols.

 

The Beninese government constantly calls on the public to heed sanitary measures, particularly hand washing with soap and water, wearing a mask everywhere, and keeping safe distance of a minimum of one metre between persons to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
