Coronavirus: Benin records 388 new cases of infection

Cotonou, Benin, June 13 (Infosplusgabon) - Benin currently has 388 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, a statement from the ministry of Health said here Saturday.

"Benin has a total of 388 confirmed cases with 166 people on treatment, 217 people recovered and 5 deaths linked to Covid-19 as of 10 June 2020," the statement said.

Benin recorded its first case of infection on 16 March.

The country has opted a routine screening of travellers upon arrival at the airport. Those who test positive for rapid diagnostic tests are managed and treated according to the appropriate protocols.

The Beninese government constantly calls on people through several channels to respect health measures, such as systematic hand washing with soap under running water, wearing of face mask, and respecting the minimum one metre social distance to reduce the spread of the pandemic.
