Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, June 12 (Infosplusgabon) – All is set for resumption of Tanzania’s Vodacom Premier League (VPL) on Saturday after it was suspended in mid-March 2020 due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

The government allowed sporting activities to resume from 1 June 2020 following steady decline in Covid-19 cases in the east African nation.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) then released fixtures for the remaining 10 rounds of matches in the 20-team league, and went on to issue health guidelines to fans ahead of Saturday’s kick-off to avert possible infections.

The guidelines include washing hands with soap and running water, social distancing and wearing of masks.

Third-placed Young Africans (Yanga) resume their league action in an away match against Mwadui of Shinyanga in north-western Tanzania while defending champions and trend-setters, Simba SC will be at home against Ruvu Shooting Stars at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

In another VPL match on Sunday, second-placed Azam FC welcome Mbao FC of Mwanza at Chamazi Stadium on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam. Azam FC will miss the services of their first-choice goalkeeper, Ghanaian Razak Abalora, and dependable stopper Yakub Mohamed who are stranded in their home country.

Simba SC are leading the league table with 71 points after 28 outings, followed by Azam FC with 54 points also after 28 games and Yanga with 51 points after 27 rounds of play.
