Gaborone, Botswana, June 12 (Infosplusgabon) - Health authorities in Botswana have temporarily closed a banking hall and a private hospital in the capital, Gaborone, on fears that the facilities have been exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19.

The Coordinator of the Presidential COVID-19 Task Force team, Kereng Masupu, on Friday said the Stanbic Bank in Fairgrounds has been temporarily closed until further notice.

Also. the Director of Health Services, Dr. Malaki Tshipayagae, announced that Gaborone Private Hospital (GPH) will be closed indefinitely due to fears of exposure to COVID-19 pandemic.

Masupu further said all staff and visitors to the facility between 8 and 12 June should immediately self-quarantine for 14 days.

"While further investigations are ongoing, the contact tracing team will also communicate with those who have visited the bank, and are deemed to require further medical attention," Masupu said.

The development comes fast on the heels of an announcement on Monday that Botswana has only one active COVID-19 case.
