Unknown gunmen kill 12 Ivorian soldiers

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, June 12 (Infosplusgabon) - A dozen Ivorian soldiers were killed Thursday morning in an attack on a military detachment in the northeast of the country, the Ivorian government announced in a statement, received by Infosplusgabon in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

 

 

 

On Thursday, 11 June 2020, around 3 a.m., the mixed Armed Forces-Gendarmerie post in Kafolo, in the Sikolo Sub-Prefecture, north-east of Côte d'Ivoire, was attacked by unidentified individuals, according to Gen. Lassina Doumbia, Chief of General Staff of the Ivorian Army.

 

The provisional assessment of this attack is established as follows: "a dozen dead, 6 wounded and 1 attacker neutralized", indicated a press release.

 

The President of the Republic, Alassane Dramane Ouattara, and the government have extended their sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

 

"Investigations are underway to determine the nature, the circumstances and the final outcome of this attack," the press statement said.

 

The statement added that in the meantime, urgent measures are being taken in the area to find the attackers.
