Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, June 11 (Infosplusgabon) - The president of the ruling People's Movement for Progress (MPP), Simon Compaoré, said on Thursday that he was optimistic that the end of terrorism is imminent in Burkina Faso, which has experienced terrorism since President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré assumed office in 2015.

Compaoré said to achieve this objective, security operations in the East, North, Center-North and Sahel regions, are necessary with a view to creating more serenity and security for the populations of these regions at the approach of the winter season.

Despite the complexity of the task, "we do not despair that Burkina Faso will overcome these agents of death," said Mr. Compaoré.

He praised the work of the defense and security forces of Burkina Faso, believing that the innovations underway at the level of the national system and the G5 Sahel, with the support of our strategic partners, will help to secure dangerous areas, and promote the return of internally-displaced persons to their villages.

Calling for unity among the people to deal with terrorism, Mr. Compaoré maintained that “these aggressors try by several strategies and methods to divide the Burkinabè and to set the country on fire for obscure and disastrous ends".
