Niamey, Niger, June 11(Infosplusgabon) – Niger has again condemned all attempts to unilaterally change the status of the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT).

Niger's position was reiterated by Foreign Minister Kalla Hankouraou at a video conference meeting of the Executive Committee of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) states.

The head of Niger's diplomacy called on the international community to "defeat these Israeli desires and preserve peace and security in the region".

At the initiative of the General Secretariat of the pan-Islamic organization, Dr. Youssef Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, the meeting was held on Wednesday against the background of threats of annexation of parts of the OPT in 1976, uttered by the Israeli Government.

It was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faycal Bin Farhan Bin Abdullah Al-Saud, Chairman of the Executive Committee.

The Niger Foreign Minister recalled that the West African state has always supported resolutions to guarantee the right of Palestinians in their conflict with Israel in its capacity as a member of the contact group on Al-Quds Al Sharif (Jerusalem).

"Our position remains unchanged and my Government will continue to fight for the 1967 borders to be respected," Mr. Hankouraou said, adding: "We will support all negotiations whose purpose is to put the Palestinian people in their legitimate rights, by forcing Israel to withdraw from the territories occupied since 1967."

He said, Niger insists on the need for a solution to the conflict to be built on "a minimum consensus", stressing that "this is not the case for the conflict settlement plan to which Israel refers".
