Tunis, Tunisia, June 7 (Infosplusgabon) - The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) has granted a US$ 98 million structural adjustment loan to Tunisia to meet current challenges and support a banking and financial sector reform program in the north African country, the Fund said in a statement posted recently on its website.

The Fund recalled, in its statement, that the agreement for this loan was signed on May 29 by the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Marouane Abassi, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the AMF, Abderrahmane Ben Abdella Al Hamidi.

The AMF had previously granted a loan of about US$ 59 million to Tunisia under the terms of an agreement signed on May 20, the statement recalled, adding that the amount of the loan was cashed on 3 June in order to support the financial situation of the State and to meet the country's urgent needs.
