French President Macron speaks with Tunisian, Algerian counterparts on telephone

Paris, France, June 6 (Infosplusgabon) - French Head of State Emmanuel Macron has spoken on telephone with Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during which the situation in Libya and the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed.

 

 

The French and Tunisian presidents, who spoke on Friday, "spoke of the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences. The two heads of state stressed the duration and strength of the ties that unite France and Tunisia. They agreed to continue strengthening the friendship and trust between the two countries in all areas", a source from the Elysee Palace said on Saturday.

 

The same source added that the two heads of state also shared their concerns and their desire to deepen their cooperation on regional crises, especially in Libya.

 

On the discussions with the Algerian president, the Elysee said: "In the spirit of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect for their sovereignty that drives relations between France and Algeria, they notably expressed their solidarity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, took stock of the situation in the Sahel and Libya and affirmed their willingness to work together for stability and security in the region."

 

The two presidents also agreed to work for a peaceful relationship and an ambitious revival of bilateral cooperation in all areas.
