Kigali, Rwanda, June 1 (Infosplusgabon) -  All Rwanda motorcycle taxi operators and other public transport services between provinces that were set to resume activities after a two- month suspension due to COVID-19 lockdown, will remain closed until further notice, the official statement issued by Rwanda's Prime Minister's office in Kigali said Monday.

The announcement changed a previous government decision to set 1 June as the day these restrictions that have been in place since 21 March would be removed, according to resolutions of the recent cabinet meeting.

“After reassessment, transportation between provinces and the City of Kigali, as well as passenger motorcycle taxi services will remain closed until further notice in the interest of public health,” reads parts of the Prime Minister’s statement.

Rwanda so far has 370 confirmed cases, of whom 256 have been discharged from treatment centres after recovery. The country also recorded the first death of this pandemic on 30 May.
