Gaborone, Botswana, June 1 (Infosplusgabon) - Botswana President Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi has been ordered to be released from home quarantine after completion of his third quarantine ordered by the country’s director of health.

The President's Press Secretary, Batlhalefi Leagajang, on Monday said Director of Health Services had authorised his release.

“This follows the release of his COVID-19 test results which came out negative,” said Leagajang.

The quarantine orders became active after the President’s one day trip to Harare, Zimbabwe, on 19 May to attend the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Extraordinary Summit on Politics, Defence and Security.

In March President Masisi was quarantined after his trip to Namibia and then again in April after a health scarce following a cabinet meeting, where all members of parliament were quarantined.

Masisi has continuously addressed the nation on issues of national importance during his self isolation quarantine through live broadcast from the state house.

Opposition politicians in Botswana are on record for condemning President Masisi’s travels, despite the ongoing measures imposed on citizens by health authorities.
