Tripoli, Libya, June 1 (Infosplusgabon) - The President of the Presidential Council of Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, agreed on Sunday in a telephone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian of the need to work to quickly stop hostilities in Tripoli.

A statement issued by the Presidential Council said that Mr. al-Sarraj and Mr. Le Drian also stressed the need to activate the outcomes of the Berlin Conference that took place at the beginning of the year on support for political, economic and military paths for Libya.

That conference also called for an end to foreign interventions in Libya and to work towards the construction of a civil and democratic state.

For its part, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Mr. Le Drian stressed the need for "an immediate resumption of negotiations" within the framework of the 5+5 Commission on Libya with a view to securing the speedy conclusion of a ceasefire between the Libyan parties, on the basis of the agreement prepared on 23 February under the auspices of the United Nations.

The 5+5 Joint Military Commission is one of the three intra-Libyan tracks the UN Support Mission in Libya is organizing, along with the economic and political tracks after the Berlin Conference.
