Five killed, 12 wounded in shelling of Tripoli residential district

Tripoli, Libya, June 1 (Infosplusgabon) – At least five people were killed and 12 others wounded on Sunday when shells hit some residential districts in Tripoli, as fighting in the Libyan capital, which affects mainly civilians, continues, health officials said.

 

A spokesperson for the Rescue and Emergency Services, Oussama Ali, said that four citizens were killed by shells targeting the zone of Souk Thlat and another in Tarik al-Gharbi.

 

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Amin al-Hachemi, said that the bombardments by Grad rockets claimed the lives for five people and wounded 12 others, including women and children.

 

He said that there were "amputations" for several injured people at Abu Slim Hospital and the Tripoli Medical Centre where they were sent for treatment.

 

Military activities have intensified over the past few days in Tripoli with shell fire against residential districts claiming the lives of many and wounding several others.
