COVID-19: Senegal records 34th coronavirus-related death, 67 new cases

Dakar, Senegal, May 23 (Infosplusgabon) - Senegal recorded its  34th coronavirus-related death on Saturday and 67 new cases, besides 105 cases of recovery the same day, the country's health minister said at his daily briefing.

The latest victim was a 65-year-old man whose postmortem examination was positive, according to the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the ministry said, out of 934 tests carried out, 67 returned positive to the coronavirus. It said 49 were follow-up contact cases, 2 imported cases and 16 cases resulting from community transmission.

On the other hand, 105 persons tested negative.

Since the virus appeared in Senegal on March 2, the country has recorded a total of 2,976 positive cases, 1,416 cured, 34 deaths, 1 evacuated and 1,525 still under treatment.
