Demand in oil products drops in Tunisia in April

Imprimer PDF

Tunis, Tunisia, May 21 (Infosplusgabon) - The demand in oil products in Tunisia dropped by 52 percent in April, compared with the same period last year due particularly to the measure of general health confinement against the coronavirus (COVID-19) which blocked economic activities and the movement of populations.

According to information provided by the Tunisian national watchdog on energy and mines, aviation kerosene was among the products most affected by the drop in the demand (92% in April 2020) and the petcock used exclusively by cement works (-94%).

In addition, the demand in fuel dropped by 55 percent in April 2020, as against 25 percent in March, the same year, with that of gasoline dropping by 50 percent.

For natural liquefied gas, the tendencies were mixed, with an increasing demand by 13 percent in March 2020, then a drop by 12 percent in April 2020, which showed that families over-supplied themselves during the first day of the confinement, fearing a shortage, which has had an impact on sales of the following months.
