Tunis, Tunisia, May 17 (Infosplusgabon) – Special vehicles (UAVs) equipped with thermal imaging cameras currently at an experimental phase will soon be available in the country, an official source said on Saturday.

Nissaf Ben Alaya, director of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases (ONMNE), said the UAVs would “probably be put into circulation from the end of next week".

At a press conference held at the headquarters of the ministry of Health, Ms. Alaya said that the rapid tests were also in the experimental phase to ensure their effectiveness.

In this context, she talked about two types of rapid tests, namely the antibody tests that have been in use in recent days in hotspots such as Greater Tunis and the Gafsa region which results will be announced soon, and the antigen tests that will be used in specific areas.

She also pointed out that a scientific committee was currently working on the production of a guide for the various stakeholders to help them use the rapid tests.

With regard to the last three contaminations recorded on Friday, Alaya said it was a case of Tunisians returning from abroad, and two cases in Gafsa (central-western) which were already in containment as they were part of the entourage of another confirmed case.
