Kigali, Rwanda, May 16  (Infosplusgabon) - Rwanda reported no new cases of the coronavirus infection in the past 48 hours, the ministry of health announced late Friday.

The Easy African country has 287 confirmed cases of Covid-19 of which 117 have been cured.

Earlier this month, Rwanda introduced nationwide relaxation of the lockdown measures in an effort to revive the economy.

The current measures which are set to expire this weekend gave public and private businesses the green light to operate with essential staff while other employees continue working from home.

During the partial lockdown, markets opened for essential vendors not exceeding 50% of registered traders. Hotels and restaurants were allowed to open and close by 7 p.m (5 p.m GMT) and schools and other sports activities remained closed until September.

The Rwandan government has projected economic growth for this year at around 3.5% compared with an annual average of 8%.
