Tunis, Tunisia, May 12 (Infosplusgabon) - Tunisia experienced a second consecutive day on Monday without recording a case of the new coronavirus (Covid-19), Tunisian Health Minister Abdelatif Mekki announced on Monday evening.

"We must not declare victory with the absence of cases of coronavirus," the Minister of Health told Parliament on Monday, stressing that it is possible to record new cases in the coming days and called for vigilance.

For his part, the Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Tunisia stated that "the current situation does not exclude itself from the occurrence of an even stronger second wave, unless we continue to observe and respect the efforts made so far by the populations".

He called on the Tunisian authorities to continue to break the chain of contamination and carry out massive tests of suspected cases.

WHO has provided Tunisia with US$1 million in aid in the form of medical protection and testing equipment, he said.
