Dakar, Senegal, May 9 (Infosplusgabon) - The United Nations (UN) has granted Senegal US$ 200 million (about 121 billion CFA francs), to support efforts by Dakar to fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19), according to an official press release published this Saturday in the Senegalese capital.
The announcement was made during a working session, by video conference, which took place on Friday between the Senegalese Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, Amadou Hott, and the resident coordinator of the UN in Senegal, Mrs. Léna Savelli.
This funding is part of the Economic and Social Resilience Program (PRES) of Senegal, said the press statement.
It is intended to strengthen the health system and the social resilience of the populations, to macroeconomic and financial stabilization to support the private sector and maintain jobs, as well as to the regular supply of basic necessities, hydrocarbons and in medical and pharmaceutical products.
"This contribution reflects the common vision of all the agencies of the United Nations system combined and symbolized through the United Nations Joint Assistance Framework (UNDAF)," the statement said.
