Kigali, Rwanda, May 9 (Infosplusgabon) -  As a move to improve protection for healthcare workers and intensify screening processes, the Rwanda's Biomedical Center (RBC) said Saturday it has deployed COVID 19-battling robots to help fight outbreak in the country.

The Director General of RBC, Dr Sabin Nsanzimana, said these new robots are now helping with measuring the body temperature in hospitals where most COVID-19 patients are being admitted.

"The robots screen patient's temperature and then direct them to different places in the hospital depending on the reading," Dr Nzanzimana said.

In addition, the robots will also monitor status, keep medical records of patients, according to Dr. Nsanzimana.

Currently, one robot has been introduced at a health facility for COVID-patients that was established at Kanyinya, a suburb of Kigali, earlier this year to ensure there is little or no contact between patients and hospital staffers.

The robot checks the patient’s fever and takes down all details, arranges a video call with the doctor and then issues a slip to the patient to visit the doctors.
