Coronavirus: Senegal records 15th death, 83 new confirmed cases

Dakar,  Senegal, May 9  (Infosplusgabon) -  Senegal recorded a 15th coronavirus-related death and 83 new cases on Saturday, including 7 in resuscitation, the Ministry of Health and Social Action announced at its daily press briefing.

The ministry said the 15th victim is the second in less than 24 hours, illustrating the worsening situation in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, 83 of the 848 were positive to coronavirus, representing 69 contact cases being treated and 14 cases from community transmission.

In contrast, 32 patients tested negative and were declared cured.

To date, Senegal has 1,634 positive cases, composed of 643 recovered, 15 deaths, 1 evacuated and 975 still under treatment, 7 of whom are admitted to the resuscitation units of the Fann Hospital and the Principal Hospital in Dakar.
