Coronavirus: Rwanda begins lockdown relaxation as total confirmed cases reach 259

Kigali, Rwanda, May 5 (Infosplusgabon) - The two-week period of easing of lockdown in Rwanda started on Monday as the total confirmed cases of COID-19 (coronavirus) has reached 259  including 124 who have been discharged from hospital.

 

 

According to the Government, the next two weeks will determine whether or not the process will be continued or reversed as people were have been asked to comply with some key guidelines issued by Health officials with respect to public places.

 

These include mandatory wearing of face masks, strict handwashing and use of sanitisers, observance of physical distancing and ban on public gathering.

 

Banks and financial institutions, categories of government offices and private sector will also operate between 6 am and 7 pm, according to the new official instructions.

 

Schools, places of worship, clubs, bars and gardens are to remain closed.

 

Following the announcement of relaxation of the measures, movements of public, private transport and pedestrians have resumed on Monday but passengers are not allowed to cross from one province to another.
