Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, May 5  (Infosplusgabon) - Burkina Faso  Prime Minister Christophe Joseph Marie Dabiré on Tuesday called on the public to take responsibility for the fight against the coronavirus, which has already claimed 46 lives out of 672 positive cases in the country.

"I appeal to the high sense of responsibility of each citizen so that the disease does not rebound and compromising the enormous sacrifices that we have made so far.

"Each Burkinabè and each inhabitant of our country must take care to protect themselves and protect the people around them, " said Dabiré at a press briefing.

Since the first cases surfaced on March 9 in Burkina Faso, authorities have taken a number of restrictive measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

In recent days, several of these measures were repealed or relaxed.

The Prime Minister said that the government, after a period of observation of the application of the various measures, took the option of a gradual resumption of activities, in order to alleviate the suffering of the people, while maintaining the course in combating the pandemic.

The reopening of schools, markets and yaars, as well as the resumption of certain socioeconomic activities, is part of this process, he said, noting  that these decisions were made after broad consultation.
